04/02/2007 - Life Lesson Learned
It doesn't happen very often, but every once in a while I learn something that I know will stay with me for the rest of my life.  I'm usually pretty excited when this happens, and if it's a good thing, I'll do my best to share it with the world.  Today's life lesson has to do with starch.

As the two ladies that have been involved in my life (my mom and Jessica) will tell you, I am very particular about my shirts, especially the nice ones.  If the collar is creased in the wrong way or sticks out too wide I will not wear the shirt.  This has always been a problem for me, because after you wear a new shirt a few times, it begins to lose it's shape...especially in the collar.

Most of you also know that I am a pretty cheap guy.  It takes a pretty special occasion for me to buy new clothes, and once I do, those clothes better last me a few years, because I'm not going to buy new ones anytime soon.

Last week my shirts were piled up on my floor all bent out of shape. My dog, Touche', had used a few of them as a pillow so they had a little dog hair on them, and they were basically in need of some care. I decided that I would make a rare visit to the dry cleaners...rare because I can't usually justify paying for someone to clean my clothes when there is a washer and dryer in my garage.

So I took my shirts over to the dry cleaners, took them inside, and met with a lady I could actually understand.  In the past I would just drop the shirts off and leave after the sales lady mumbled a few words of broken English that I could not decipher, but this time I clearly heard a question asked....would I like my shirts starched in low, medium or heavy starch?

I had heard of starch before, but I guess I never really thought about it.  I didn't know what to say so I just decided on the medium.  Can't go wrong their right?  Not too much, not too little...I decided I wanted the perfect amount of starch on my shirts...Medium.

I left my shirts at the cleaners over the weekend and picked them up today and was pleasantly surprised.  Every shirt has returned to it's original form.  The collar is not misshapen.  The shirts have not shrunk.  And I now have five new "favorite" shirts to wear around town.  This was really a life changing event that I would recommend to all of you.  I am a new proponent of starch.

04/06/2007 - Looks Like We're Losing Our Coach
Today is another bad day for A&M...it looks like we're losing our head coach Billy Gillespie to the University of Kentucky.  I really don't have much to say about it other than This Sucks.  If we lose him our program will have lost its momentum that was being built over the past three years.  I really don't know what to say.  Maybe I'll update this post tomorrow.

04/06/2007 - Global Warming?
We each hear of global warming mentioned every day in the media.  But how true is this phenomena?  Well I'm not a scientist, but I do have a good idea how the media works.  They like to hop on one side of an issue and never show the other side.  Well, here's the other side.  Decide for yourself. (This movie is more than an hour long so set some time aside to watch it)

04/09/2007 - New Coach
It looks like we've found a replacement for Billy Gillispie.  His name is Mark Turgeon and he's from Wichita State.  Rumors are that a press conference is scheduled for either this afternoon at 4pm or Tuesday afternoon at 3pm.  I'll post a comment when I find out more.

Coach Turgeon would be a great hire for the Ags.  He seems to be a hard working guy that has many of the attributes of Gillispie.  Hopefully the players will buy into his system and continue their winning ways.

Lots of speculation and excitement around campus.  It's going to be tough to get that paper finished that I had scheduled for today.

If there is a press conference, I'll be doing my best to make it over there to take some pictures.  I'll post them on my site as soon as they're ready.

04/16/2007 - OWNED
If you've never heard the term "OWNED" then you're probably too old to be reading this.  Just go ahead and skip this post and come back tomorrow.

Also, if you're easily offended or have no sense of humor...just don't read any more.

Many of you don't know a whole lot about websites, which is fine, but let me give a little background.  If someone displays one of the pictures from my site on another site, the data is stored on a stats page that I can access through my web server.  I can check the other sites and see how my pictures are used.

So last night I was checking the stats and found that a guy on a t.u. message board named "royalewithcheese" was using one of my pictures to make fun of the Ags.  He put it in his signature which means that it pops up every time that guy makes a post on the message board.

I saw that this was going on and it wasn't exactly helping our Ags so I decided to pull a little switch-a-roo.  I erased the pic that he was using and replaced it with a picture of some naked guys washing a car, along with the following words... "royalewithcheese just got OWNED"

04/19/2007 - Former Portland Resident was 1 of 32 that died at Virginia Tech
It looks like a former Portland, TX (my home town) resident, Lauren McCain, was one of the 32 victims in the Virginia Tech.  I didn't know her, but one of my sisters may have.  Small world right?  Weird that one of the ones that died once lived in my small home town.  Our prayers are with all of them.

You can find a link to the Houston Chronicle article talking about Lauren by Clicking Here.
