03/05/2008 - Ags Win a Crucial Game
Just got done watching what ended up being a pretty crazy game won by the Ags. It was a very close game until about midway through the second half when Joseph Jones set a pick at half court absolutely leveling one of their guards. The pick was clearly legal, but the Baylor fans didn't think so.
The Baylor fans continued to get riled up after a few calls didn't go their way. Trash, and souvenir basketballs rained from the stands. It was apparent that they were a little mad.
When it got within two minutes, it was clear that our Aggies were going to win, but Baylor just wouldn't give up. They were still fouling our players down by 10 with less than a minute to go. They just couldn't "bear" (get it?) to take another loss.
So the clock is winding down and Donald Sloan gets the ball. It had appeared earlier that he was a little frustrated with the home crowd. Was he hearing a little "trash" talk? (get it?)
What better way to leave a statement than to do the following as the clock winds down....
Notice the trash come down from the stands...I love it.

03/04/2008 - I Went To Jared
You read it right, I went to Jared. Just like the commercial states, I went to the "Galleria of Jewelry" with Jessica this weekend to make the last big purchase before the wedding....the wedding band. We found a ring that matches her engagement ring pretty well, so I went and pulled the trigger right there on Saturday...I pulled the trigger on the worst jewelry purchase of my life...
Now girls, don't over-react. Hear me out... I love the ring. Since I picked it up today, I've opened the box about fifteen times to look at it, just like I did with the engagement ring. And sure, Jessica will like it, but it's just not the same...
Every other time I've bought Jessica jewelry, it's been for some special occasion. Maybe it was a heart necklace on Valentine's Day. Maybe it was a pair of blue topaz earrings on Christmas. She was thrilled when she got them. She wasn't expecting to get jewelry on that occasion, it was a surprise and it was exciting.
Fast forward to Rome and the engagement. Our friends out there know that she wasn't expecting that at that particular moment. She was in shock that I had surprised her with the engagement ring. She's had plenty of compliments and she tells me very often that she likes the ring. The engagement ring was a good investment; a good purchase if you will.
Then Saturday comes along...we walk out of the mall here in Houston to see the "Galleria of Jewelry", Jared, right in front of us.
She says, "we haven't bought the wedding band yet, let's go look around". So I agree, acknowledging that I'm going to have to buy this follow-up ring sooner or later.
As it turns out, they have one that matches her engagement ring pretty nicely. She decides that's the one she wants, so I pull out my credit card and pay for it.
We walk out the door, and I start to realize that something is just a little different. Sure, Jessica is happy and saying thanks to me for buying it, telling me how great it looked with her ring, etc...but this purchase didn't seem to bring the excitement or the tears from the past. There wasn't anyone there filming us walking out the door, no calls to relatives, hell, you guys aren't even reading my blog to find out what happened.
So guys, if you haven't been engaged yet, be prepared for the big letdown that is the wedding band
But seriously, it's March now, only 2.5 months til the wedding. It's coming up quick. Thanks to all the girls that made it out to Jessica's shower, especially the ones who threw it. She had a lot of good stories to tell me afterwards, and I know she had a great time.

03/04/2008 - The Problem With Programming Your Own Site...
The Problem with programming your own site is that there's no 1-800 number to call when you mess everything up. That's right. I messed it up.
For some reason I decided to mess around with the login function of my site after hours and hours of work getting it to work in the past. The end result is many many fewer posts than what you're probably used to, and a big headache on my part. Hopefully I'll get it worked out soon.
But either way, here I am. A lot has changed since I talked to you guys last...the main one being that I'm almost two months into my first real job over at Smith. Everything is going great as far as that goes. The people are cool, the job is challenging and when things are good they're really good. There's not much as rewarding as going out and creating your own business like you have to do in sales. It takes a lot of hard work, but I feel like it'll pay off in the end.
The free time has been a little different than what I'm used to. I have a lot more time alone without Jessica or some of my close friends. I've been able to see Jessica most weekends, but as we get closer to the wedding, things will start to get busier and I won't be able to see her much. Hey, at least it's our last three months of the long-distance thing. We've had enough of that in our relationship. I'm looking forward to the wedding when that can finally be finished.
The free time has led to a few new hobbies and the renewal of a few old ones. I'll let you decide which is which....
I spent the first few weeks playing the Xbox on the new tv pretty much non-stop. I played so much that I broke the xbox. It's been shipped off for repair leaving me looking for other things to do.
So I started playing golf again (sign #87 that I'm getting old). I hit up the driving range once last week, and I must admit, it was pretty bad. Out of a bucket of 90 balls, I hit 3 or 4 where I was aiming. This was reinforced on Saturday when Justin and I hit up the links. My game was much improved from the driving range, but I still shot a 126 (which is horrible for you non golfers out there). We enjoyed the bad golf so much that we tried again on Sunday...my first 20 stroke improvement of my young golf career.
The new business is still steadily rolling along. We're finishing up the website, and soon it'll be time to roll onto the legal side of everything. This could be the biggest project that I've undertaken. Stick around to hear more details as they are able to be announced.
That's about all I have for today. I'll speak with you guys soon.

01/07/2008 - A&M vs. t.u. Game To Move to Thanksgiving Day
I started work today over at Smith and I think it went pretty well...
I woke up at 5:30 this morning on my own. My alarm wasn't set until 7:45, but I couldn't really sleep. I don't think I was nervous, maybe just excited. The first half of the day was all paperwork, but the second half turned out to be pretty cool. I got to meet everyone, and they all seem pretty nice. I spent most of my day researching contacts and learning the computer system, probably the most boring part of the job, but I was excited either way. It's just fun to be finally working on making an impact in the real world.
The San Antonio Express News is reporting that A&M and t.u. have
agreed to move their annual football rivalry back to Thanksgiving Day
after a 15 year absence. Can you say awesome? Here's the link....

Now I'm sitting here again at a restaurant with free internet (common theme developing right?). I still don't have cable or internet at the house, can't wait til thursday, but it gives me an excuse to enjoy the cheap beer and watch the national championship game.
So in summary... started my new job today and liked it, Lonestar Showdown moved back to Turkey Day, drinking a beer and watching the national championship game... Life is good.
