| 12/06/2007 - I can post again |
|
I can finally post here again after my month long self-ban from my own site. I've been job searching lately as most of you know and I didn't want to post anything during the job search that potential employers could use against me.(not that I'd ever say anything bad on here) I just accepted a job with a company called Smith & Associates out of Houston, TX. I will be a broker (sales guy) of electronic components. I'm very excited about the position and that the job search is finally over. If you care to look, you can find my employers website at www.SmithWeb.com. I'll be around more often now so keep coming back. |
| 12/08/2007 - Dane Cook & Apartment Shopping |
![]() Jessica and I went on a little trip with Justin and Katie over here to Houston and the Toyota Center to see Dane Cook in concert. If you're not a Dane Cook fan already you can check out his site at DaneCook.com or see one of his hilarious videos on youtube. Tomorrow we'll be shopping around for our first home (apartment really). Everything is moving so fast. Two days ago I didn't even know what town I was going to be in and what my profession would be....tomorrow I may sign an apartment lease. It's going to be a fun ride over the next few months, and it's not just about the new job... My new website is being designed right now. If you don't already know about it you will soon. I've seen the templates and it's looking like it's having a good start. Once the website is up, I'll be able to share it to the public. Hopefully soon after I'll be able to clean this place up as well. I'm going to be new to Houston, so if any of you Houstonians have any tips shoot me a comment. |
| 12/13/2007 - Looking back with 24 hours to go |
![]() Some of us that are still around from the old crew and a few of the new ones hit up Sbisa yesterday for the last time. I had forgotten why we quit hanging out there, but eating the food reminded me.... there's lots of food around, but it all tastes the same. We used to go almost every night. It's funny to think back to fish year in the dorms. I was an immature skinny little freshman like all of the freshmen I've seen around campus this semester. I met the original DCT members (you know who you are) back at FHK. Dorm life was pretty bad, but it'd be fun to spend a month back there now. Six of my best friends lived within 50 yards of me. Now we'll be traveling hundreds of miles to see each other a few times a year on special occasions. I've grown up a lot since then, but it definitely didn't happen at our next stop... Sophomore year we moved over to Melrose. I lucked into a spot living with what would turn out to be the Westover crew. It was crazy that we all got along so quick. Lots of memories from that place.... Adam's girls, Chris's dip to get rid of them, and Justin's llama torture (someone find me a link). The girls even lived in our back yard. It was a pretty nice setup but Melrose itself sucked, so we moved into the infamous westover house... Westover was much nicer, with our own dirt yard with weeds that Adam liked to mow every other month. It'll be the place I remember most about college, partially because I was always there, but mainly for the huge birthday parties, crazy times in the garage, and basketball games we skipped because the games at home were more fun. Westover is what college is all about... ...and now it's done. Friday I'll walk with my diploma (thank God), and it'll be time to move on to the next step in our lives. I guess that was the plan all along, but it's tough to think that we'll be leaving behind the best time of our lives. The diploma shows that I can make it through college (whether I studied or not), but the memories with all of you mean more than the framed piece of paper that'll soon be hanging in my office. Sorry to get all sentimental on everyone. Good luck in whatever it is you all decide to do...I know we'll see each other soon enough but keep in touch and stop by whenever you're in Houston. |
| 12/17/2007 - Homeless |
![]() It's nice to finally have a break from the hectic schedule of graduating, wedding classes, moving, and worrying about jobs...but I'm now suddenly bored. To fill the time I've been trying to catch up on some of my photography orders which I'm waaay behind on....sorry customers. I'll be sure to give some hefty discounts. Jessica gets her wisdom teeth out today and after that we'll be finishing up our wedding planning. Keep visiting this week....hopefully I'll have enough time to get to an actual thought out blog instead of my personal updates. |
| 12/29/2007 - Finally Getting Settled |
|
Thanks to all of my family, my future family, and a few friends for helping me get moved into the new place over the past few days. We're finally closer to being settled into the new apartment here in Houston. I'll put a few pictures up later so everyone can see the inside. We had a few troubles while moving in. For a few hours it was looking like this place had the worst luck ever. The upstairs toilet flooded within 15 minutes of opening the front door for the first time. The big problem was that we were outside unpacking everything from the U-Haul at the time. The water apparently just kept flowing and flowing until there was a two inch pool in my new bathroom. Soon the pool moved to the carpet and about halfway across the new master bedroom. I guess the water started to soak through the floor and into the ceiling of the first floor (I have a two story apartment). When I walked into the house with a box of pots and pans I noticed that there was water literally flowing like a shower from the light fixture below my bedroom onto the carpeted living room. I ran upstairs to shut off the water to the toilet and immediately ran over to the managers office to get maintenance. They did a really good job of cleaning up the place, but there are still a few stains on the downstairs ceiling that need to be fixed. After everything dried up, we were able to continue un-packing. Jessica is having a good time running around the place "decorating" as she calls it. I will say that I'm not totally used to a girls taste yet. Just last night we had a small discussion about a plate painted with a small chef and the word "wine" written on it. Apparently it's one of those popular decorative plates. It's now on top of the fridge next to my bottle of tequila....and as soon as Jessica gets finished "decorating" and heads home, it'll be in some hall closet until May....the day I promise my life away in exchange for nightly home cooked meals and a "decorated" kitchen and bathroom. Cable won't be hooked up until the 10th, and work doesn't start until the 7th so I'll have plenty of time to get settled in the next couple of weeks. If anyone wants to stop by in Houston and take a look at the place you're welcome to. Consider this an open invite for any of my friends or family that need a place to stay in Houston. We have a guest bedroom that needs to be filled. |
